Dick Akio Morisawa
Dick Akio Morisawa is a third generation Japanese American, born in Sacramento, California. His interest in art was cultivated from early childhood. After attending McClatchy High School, he spent two years taking art classes at Sacramento City College, then became self-taught. In 1971, Morisawa traveled extensively through Europe to visit museums and later made several trips to Japan to see art and family.
Abstract Expressionism is his primary focus, incorporating other cultural influences and experimental techniques in painting. Inspired by the natural world and all types of art, he strives to create work that is personal to what he feels at the moment.
Morisawa lives and works in Sonoma, California.
